Desi Chana (Kala Chana) – Small, dark brown in color, and has a rough coat. It is commonly used in Indian cuisine, roasted as a snack, or ground into flour (Besan).

Kabuli Chana – Larger, light beige in color, with a smooth coat. It is widely used in dishes like hummus, chana masala, and salads.
